A Mother's Love

To love puppies
and sunsets sinking slowly
in an artist's palette sky

These I know how to smile to

For nothing there pushes
or pinches or hurts or
cuts and takes away.

But, I want to love
only love....

So, off I go...
looking....

for darkness and shadows,
hurts and pains, losses and deaths.

Making aloneness and loneliness
my right eye and left

to map and unearth

to drop sink deep,
deep within the depths of no safety,

to bite into the bitterness,
of the desolateness in wanting purpose,
pointlessly, gently snuffed out

in a breath

Can I smile a smile
of embrace and surrender
to this dimension of love in manifest?

Shadows make a butterfly
and a battlefield.
